Founded by Professor Heather Mortiboys, Mitotype is a specialist CRO focused on enabling drug discovery. The company is built around a simple belief: a patient’s own cells can tell us more about disease – and how a therapeutic will perform – than standard models alone.
We are an R&D rich company, constantly developing and striving to innovate. Our goal is to accelerate access to effective treatments for patients with currently incurable diseases, with a particular focus on neurodegenerative conditions like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
We work directly with patient-derived cells, measuring over 100 mitochondrial parameters to reveal the biological detail that generic approaches can miss. This helps distinguish between a therapeutic that just looks promising on paper and one that has a genuine chance of helping the people it is intended for.
By identifying promising therapeutic candidates earlier, we aim to reduce late-stage failure. With a clearer picture of how a compound behaves in human biology, our clients can make decisions sooner and with greater confidence, helping promising therapies move towards the clinic.
